An Intimate Home Wedding In The Clogher Valley

Nidhi + John’s Clogher Valley Wedding

HIGHLIGHTS FILM

Tell us all about you! What do you do? How do you spend your free time? What's important in life?

John is from Northern Ireland and I’m from India, but we now we live in sunny Hampshire. We love to travel and have enjoyed doing that together over the years, and hope to continue despite the pandemic related interruption! Our faith is also pretty important to us and has been a constant throughout our relationship. John and I have pretty different hobbies otherwise. John loves to surf, cycle, climb and is pretty outgoing. I love food far too much, obscure tv shows and if I must have a sport, then does walking count?

Why did you decide to capture your Clogher Valley wedding on video?

We had always known that photography and videography was something that we wanted to invest in. These are the things that remain long after the wedding is over and something to remember the whole day by. This became even more important especially during a pandemic, as most of our guest list could not make it! It meant we could share the day with them through the photos and videos.

Why did you choose Amber Tree Filmhouse to film your wedding?

While scouring the internet for videographers and photographers, I came across Amber Tree Filmhouse. After going through the portfolio, I fell in love with their editing style and the beautiful work they produced. What sealed the deal was the phone call with Sam. He was incredibly friendly, offered to help in any way he could and was genuinely interested in us and our story. I am so glad it all worked out and Sam and his wonderful team were able to capture our wedding day!

Tell me all about the proposal! Spare no detail, I want to hear it all!

It seems like forever ago now, but it was only January of this year that John proposed! We had decided to go back to where we had our first date for our three-year anniversary, an island off Newborough beach in North Wales called Ynys Llanddwyn (also Lover’s Island in English). A rare sunny day had been forecasted, so we decided to make it there for the sunrise. John had planned it all, he packed together a picnic of my favourite breakfast foods and even had a hot water bottle to keep me warm. The sunrise came, we reminisced the last three years that had flown by and enjoyed the still, quiet morning. Our stomachs full of bacon butties and croissants, we were then ready to head off. We were packing away our things and I had bent down to pick up something. As I turned around, I found John on his knees. He said some lovely things, there was much laughter and when he asked me to marry him, I said OK! It was simple and perfect; I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Why did you choose John’s family home as your venue? What made it special to you?

With the virus-that-shall-not-be-named going on, John and I decided to move our Hampshire wedding to Northern Ireland. More specifically, we decided to have the wedding at John’s parents house! The day ended up being a more intimate affair than we had originally planned with only family and a few close friends present. Having a smaller wedding at a place that held so much history for us was incredibly special, and the day turned out to be everything we had hoped for and more.
